Concrete is an original, fluid, and exquisite natural substance.
It is intensely beautiful, deep and alive.
It is our craft, our passion, and our art.

The concept of concrete in our homes and businesses is relatively
new to the Midwest.  However, in other areas of the country, especially
in the southwest, the beauty of concrete is everywhere.  Europeans
discovered its versatility long ago.  It is the material of choice for
floors, walls, counter tops, bars, islands, tables - the possibilities are
endless.

Concrete has wonderful characteristics, rich depth of variation in color
and texture.  Concrete is beautifully imperfect.  Concrete complements
other natural products such as granite, marble, wood, glass, stone and
metal.  .  It can be the main feature in a room or just an accent.
Enjoy the durability of concrete, and with minimal care its natural
organic beauty will grow over time.

Concrete vs. Asphalt
Do you really want a "blacktop" driveway?
Consider these facts published by the Asphalt Press Industries in their
1987 brochure "Your new driveway: The how, why and when blacktop
driveway care."
Apply sealer 3-12 months after paving and every two to three years after
that.
Asphalt remains soft and pliable until fully cured in six to 12 months.
Keep cars off a new driveway for three days, longer in hot weather.
Avoid gas, oil, anti-freeze, power steering and transmission fluid spills
and leaks.
Fill any hairline cracks that develop over the winter.
Keep oil trucks, concrete trucks and other heavy vehicle off your new
driveway.
Watering down your driveway with a water hose on hot days will cool and
temporarily harden the blacktop. This is helpful but not mandatory.
Don't park your car in the same spot every time while the asphalt is curing
during the first six to 12 months.
Weight in concentrated areas-such as bicycle and motorcycle kickstands,
carjacks, or ramps, lawn chair legs and high heels-creates holes,
especially during warmer weather.
Points not mentioned in the above copy:
Even after the blacktop has cured, do not expect it to be as hard as
concrete.
Avoid driving on the edges since they will crack and crumble over time.
